ADULT, CHILD & FAMILY CLINICAL SERVICES
Behavioral Health Services North provides adult, child and family clinical services at our Center for Well-Being – a community mental health clinic, where we provide a fully integrated care model that enhances quality of life and helps ensure that you achieve your desired outcomes in a measurable, maintainable and meaningful manner. We also provide consultation to schools and other agencies in the communities surrounding our region. Clinical services are provided by licensed mental health counselors and psychologists who provide a coordinated, collaborative and integrated approach to healthcare.
Counseling Services
For children, we offer individual, family, and group therapy. We offer counseling regarding behavioral and attentional problems in children.
For children and adults, we offer counseling regarding mood or anxiety problems, relationship and adjustment issues, stress management, psychiatric treatment and medication management.
Some of these counseling services include:
- School-Based Clinical Services: School-Based Mental Health Services (SBMHS) are mental health service provider programs licensed by the NYS Office of Mental Health, which operates on-site within a school facility. A School-Based clinic operates in the school setting at minimum one day per week and can be based on the level of need of the student population. Students who are referred to the satellite clinic for services will, with parent or guardian permission, receive an initial assessment by a NYS licensed mental health professional to determine if the child is experiencing a mental health condition that warrants further services. If services are needed and consented to, a student can receive clinical services on-site at the school.
- Personalized Recovery Oriented Services (PROS): PROS is a complete recovery program that brings rehabilitation, support and clinic services together into one plan that supports participants’ ambitions and hopes. PROS services are broken down into four categories of services with the Individualized Recovery Plan keeping everyone working in the same direction – helping an individual obtain a desired life role.
- Crisis Services: BHSN Crisis Services provide 24-hour outreach support and intervention to adults who are experiencing a mental health crisis. Alternatives to hospitalization are explored and linkages arranged where appropriate. This service is frequently effective in providing individuals, who may not be able to utilize office based services, with the interventions and support which make hospital care unnecessary. This program is highly effective at reducing hospitalizations by connecting individuals with needed community outpatient services and resources.
Psychoeducational Assessment Services
We conduct psychoeducation assessments for students ages 3 through 21 regarding learning difficulties, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, social-emotional concerns, and autism spectrum disorders.
Integrated Approach
Because we are an adult, child and family clinic, we involve parents in the services we provide for their children. This means that parents may meet regularly with a clinician while their child is receiving individual counseling, or that parents and children receive family counseling together. With parents’ input, we develop a better understanding of their children and are able to offer suggestions to help children be more successful.
Confidentiality
All services are provided in a confidential manner with respect to your personal information.
We value the differences and similarities among people and respect the varied identities of clients and communities with whom we work.
